Hello and welcome to Chrono! We're excited to have you. These Terms of Service ("Terms") explain the rules for using our Chrono web application and all related services (we'll call this the "Service"). Please take a moment to read these Terms carefully. When you use Chrono, you're agreeing to these Terms and our Privacy Policy.
If you don't agree with these Terms, then please don't use the Service.
1. Your Agreement
By creating an account or using any part of Chrono, you're telling us that you've read, understood, and agree to these Terms. This includes any updates we might make in the future. If we make big changes, we'll let you know by posting them on Chrono or in another clear way. If you keep using Chrono after we make changes, it means you accept the new Terms.
2. Beta Service Notice
Important: Chrono is Currently a Beta Version. This means our Service is still under active development and testing. You understand and agree that:
- The Service may contain bugs, errors, or incomplete features. We'll do our best to fix them, but some things might not work as expected.
- Features and functionalities may change, be added, or be removed, possibly without extensive prior notice, as we refine the platform.
- Data Integrity and Backups: While we aim to protect your data as described in our Privacy Policy, Chrono does not currently maintain its own systematic, regular backups of user data beyond the inherent resilience features of our hosting provider (Supabase, primarily in Singapore). This means there is a risk of data loss, especially during this beta phase. We are not liable for any loss of data. We strongly advise you to maintain your own copies of any important information you input into Chrono. This practice may change as the Service matures.
- Your feedback during this beta period is very helpful and appreciated!
- The Service is provided "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" during this beta phase.
Thank you for helping us test and improve Chrono!
3. Who Can Use Chrono
You need to be at least 13 years old to create a Chrono account. If you're younger than 18 (or the legal adult age in your country), you can use Chrono only if your parent or guardian has agreed to these Terms for you. Parents/guardians are responsible for their child's use of Chrono.
4. Your Chrono Account
You'll need an account for most Chrono features. Please provide accurate info (like your email) and keep it current.
Keep your password secret! You're responsible for everything that happens with your account. If you think someone's using your account without permission, tell us immediately. Don't use offensive usernames or names that belong to someone else.
5. Using Chrono Responsibly
5.1. How You Can Use Chrono
We grant you permission to use Chrono for personal productivity, as long as you follow these Terms. This permission is just for you.
5.2. What You Shouldn't Do
Please don't use Chrono to:
- Break any laws or regulations.
- Copy or share parts of Chrono without our okay.
- Use automated tools ("bots," "spiders") that overload our systems.
- Send spam or try to phish other users.
- Attempt to hack or disrupt Chrono's security or servers.
- Upload viruses or other harmful software.
- Collect personal info from other users without their consent.
- Use Chrono for illegal, offensive, or harmful purposes.
- Harass, abuse, or discriminate against others.
- Pretend to be someone else or provide false information.
- Create multiple accounts to cause trouble or bypass rules.
If you misuse the Service, we may close your account.
6. Your Content on Chrono
6.1. You Own and Are Responsible for Your Content
Anything you create, upload, or share on Chrono (like tasks, notes, posts – "User Content") is yours and your responsibility. Make sure you have the rights to share it and that it follows these Terms and the law.
6.2. Our Permission to Use Your Content
To operate and improve Chrono, when you add User Content, you give us permission to use, store, display, and modify it (e.g., to show it to you, or make it work on different devices). This permission is necessary for Chrono to function. It continues for things like anonymous statistics or system backups even if you stop using Chrono.
6.3. Content Rules
Your User Content shouldn't be illegal, hateful, defamatory, or infringe on anyone's rights. We don't actively monitor all content, but we can remove anything that violates our rules.
7. Subscriptions, Fees & Advertising
Chrono offers various features. Some basic features may be free, especially during this beta period. Access to advanced features and higher usage limits ("Tier-Gated Features") will typically require a paid subscription ("Subscription").
7.1. Beta Access and Future Charges
During this beta phase, some features that might later become part of paid tiers may be available for free or at promotional rates. We intend to charge for Tier-Gated Features and may introduce or adjust subscription fees for different tiers of service in the future. We will provide reasonable notice before such charges are implemented for features you are currently using or if your access level changes due to the introduction of paid tiers.
7.2. Subscription Terms (When Applicable)
- Fees: Prices for Subscriptions will be displayed on our pricing page or when you sign up for a tier. We may change prices, but we'll notify you in advance.
- Payment: We use secure third-party payment processors (like Buy Me a Coffee or Stripe – [Specify if chosen]) to handle payments. Their terms and privacy policies will also apply to your payments.
- Billing & Renewal: Subscriptions usually renew automatically (e.g., monthly or yearly). You can cancel before your current period ends to stop future charges, via your account settings.
- Cancellations & Refunds: You can cancel anytime, and your access will continue until your current paid period ends. Generally, payments are non-refundable unless the law requires it or we decide otherwise.
- Usage Limits: Paid tiers will have specific limits (e.g., number of projects, AI messages). Please respect these.
7.3. Advertising
To support the free aspects of Chrono, especially during and potentially after the beta period, we plan to display advertisements on the Service. These ads may be provided by third-party networks such as Google AdSense. These ad networks may use cookies and other tracking technologies to collect information about your visits to Chrono and other websites to provide you with targeted advertisements. For more information on how Google uses data and how you can control your ad preferences, please see our Privacy Policy (Section 4) and visit Google's advertising settings pages.
Some premium subscription tiers may offer an ad-free experience.
8. Our Intellectual Property
Chrono, including its software, design, logos, and content created by us, is our property (or our licensors') and is protected by copyright and other laws. You can't use our brand or content without our written permission, except as these Terms allow for your personal use of the Service.
9. Links to Other Sites
Chrono may contain links to other websites or services not run by us. We're not responsible for them. If you use them, you do so at your own risk, and their terms and privacy policies will apply.
10. Copyright Concerns
We respect copyrights. If you think someone is using your copyrighted work on Chrono without permission, please email us at nate.walker.eni@gmail.com with "Copyright Infringement" in the subject and details. False claims can have legal consequences.
11. Ending Your Use of Chrono
We can suspend or close your account immediately if you break these Terms or for other serious reasons. If this happens, you can't use Chrono anymore.
You can also close your account anytime through your settings or by contacting us. Some parts of these Terms will still apply even after your account is closed (like our rights to feedback you gave us).
12. Important Disclaimers (What We Don't Promise)
We try our best, but Chrono is offered "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE," especially during this beta phase.
This means we don't guarantee Chrono will always be perfect, secure, available, or meet all your needs. We don't promise to fix all bugs. Because Chrono (Beta) currently does NOT have its own systematic backup system for user data (beyond what our host Supabase provides for resilience), WE ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANY LOSS OF YOUR DATA OR CONTENT. You are responsible for keeping your own backups of important information.
Any advice you get through Chrono doesn't create any warranty unless written in these Terms.
13. Our Limits on Liability (What We're Not Responsible For)
To the fullest extent allowed by law, Chrono (and our team/partners) won't be liable for any indirect, accidental, special, or consequential damages. This includes lost profits or lost data (especially given the current beta status and lack of Chrono-managed backups).
We're not responsible for errors in content, harm from using Chrono, unauthorized server access, service interruptions, bugs/viruses from third parties, or offensive user content.
Our total financial responsibility to you for any claims related to Chrono will be limited to what you paid us for the Service in the six months before your claim, or $100 USD, whichever is more. These limits apply no matter the legal theory, even if we were warned about potential damages.
14. Your Responsibility for Harm
If your use of Chrono (or anyone using your account) causes harm or legal trouble for us or others (e.g., by breaking these Terms or someone's rights), you agree to cover our losses, damages, and costs, including legal fees.
15. Applicable Law (Sri Lanka)
These Terms are governed by the laws of Sri Lanka, without regard to conflict of law principles. If any part of these Terms is found invalid, the rest still applies. Our failure to enforce any right isn't a waiver of that right.
16. Resolving Disputes
If you have an issue, please contact us first at nate.walker.eni@gmail.com. We'll try to resolve it informally. If we can't, you agree that any legal action will be brought exclusively in the competent courts located in Colombo, Sri Lanka, and you consent to this jurisdiction. To the extent permitted, disputes will be handled individually, not as class actions.
17. Your Feedback
We appreciate your ideas for Chrono! If you send us feedback, you agree we can use it freely without paying you or keeping it secret.
18. Changes to Chrono
We're always improving Chrono. We might change, update, or stop parts of the Service, sometimes without much notice. We're not liable to you if we do.
19. Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms. If changes are important, we'll try to give 30 days' notice. We decide what's "important." If you keep using Chrono after new Terms take effect, you agree to them.
20. Other General Terms
- Electronic Communications: Using Chrono or emailing us means you agree to get communications from us electronically.
- Severability: If a part of these Terms is invalid, the rest still applies.
- Waiver: If we don't enforce a right, it doesn't mean we waive it for the future.
- Entire Agreement: These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the whole agreement between you and Chrono about the Service.
